Inside the Treehouse
The weather is beautiful this week, and we have no school because it is our spring break. The snowbanks are shrinking and there are puddles galore. The kidlets have been outside a lot, which is wonderful. I love forty degrees. Love it! It is especially beautiful after a winter that has been incredibly cooped up. There was so much snow everywhere that it was somewhat hard to play outside, and there is still so much snow that it’s hard to play in the hard, but the driveway has real honest to goodness asphalt to walk on, and the treehouse is dry! The other day I sat in a lawn chair on the driveway and read a book from cover to cover. It was actually a bad book, but I loved the fresh air.
All along I’ve loved that my kidlets now have a treehouse, but this spring I’m questioning how we ever lived without one. It has been the place to be these past few days. They’ve brought snacks up there. They dragged burlap up for carpet, and all the lawn chair cushions for seating. They transported blankets up to their cozy loft, and made a shelf on the edge of the tree for muddy boots, which are not allowed inside, apparently. Neighbors have been over playing in the treehouse. Library books have been read up there. I love that they have somewhere fun to play even though we are still up to our knees in icy snow.
