Last Week: A Walk to the Duck Pond

The big kids and Dr. Peds were at the movie theater with some of our friends.  The weather was beautiful, so I suggested to my little guy that we take a walk to the cemetery to visit the ducks and geese.  We happened to have a lot of stale and almost moldy bread hanging around the kitchen, so we packed it away in his back pack and set out on our trek, side stepping all the gigantic puddles on the sidewalks along the way.

The big geese were still fenced into their winter enclosure, but there were lots of duck pairs and a few seagulls on the loose who loved our crumbs.  We couldn’t leave those beautiful noisy, honking geese out, so we just threw pieces of bread over the fence for them to gobble up.  The trajectory entertained Mr. TOF for a long, long time.

It’s been a very cooped up winter, and Mr. Trouble on Feet has relished the few opportunities he has had to run loose.  One day a few weeks ago we went out to lunch with Dr. Peds, and he was highly entertained running up and down a sidewalk with no snow about 20 times, back and forth.  Bodies are just made to move.  There was no traffic in the cemetery on the day that we visited, especially in the section we were in, which was not even plowed out all the way, so it was a terrific opportunity for Mr. TOF to relish running in the wide open spaces.  He burned off a lot of energy.  He can’t wait to run races this summer.
