Alex

It is probably no surprise that while we were in North Dakota my favorite time that I got to spend with my nephew Alex involved reading a huge stack of picture books together.  We were blessed to be able to spend a lot of time at Grandma Kathy’s with my nieces and nephews, who were able to come out almost all day almost every day.  It made everything so much more adventurous and entertaining.

A couple of trips were made to to the Barnes County Historical Society Museum in Valley City.  It’s one of our favorite places, and it’s free!  To make the model train move around the track and over the hi-line bridge, you can deposit a quarter in the slot.  Generous Grandma Kathy gave each kidlet a quarter.  You can just see how intently Alex is watching the train, and Mr. TOF is asking for “two quarters, and many more” for his birthday so he can go back to the museum and make the train go all day.
