Sunday Night at the Beach: Exploring the Secret Beach

The big kids were still away at Grandma Kathy’s, and Mr. TOF  picked the Secret Beach for our destination.  We had both taken luxuriously long Sunday afternoon naps, which was perfect for an extended beach visit after supper.

We don’t go to the Secret Beach as often as the others because it’s a little less accessible, and quite honestly, I don’t always think of it, but that remoteness is what makes it such a great secret, and this beach is rarely crowded.  The golden light was gleaming across the water, and hardly anyone was there.

He loved climbing the big rocks.

Mr. TOF had the best time carrying around driftwood and setting it back out to sea.

Rocks of all sizes are always a big hit.

He was adventurous enough to wade into the water to grab some floating sticks.

This boy can put on his own shoes, and he practices this skill approximately 203 times a day.  Unfortunately, though, no matter what tricks I try, he just can’t seem to figure out which shoe belongs on which foot without my help.  Once I point him in the right direction he sets to work strapping them on.

I read a mommy blog the other day; she took a sticker and cut it in half and put half in each shoe where the arch of the foot is. When the shoes are set next to each other correctly, the sticker will match-up. I thought it was a great idea.
