Sunday Night at the Beach: Stony Point

I’ve been waiting to head up to the Stony Point beach all summer.  We don’t go there as often because it’s about a ten minute drive out of town, and it’s one of my favorites.  Then again, almost every beach is my favorite.  Each beach on Lake Superior is so different and special.  It was moderately windy at Stony Point, and although the waves were not huge, they were still somewhat large and a lot of fun to watch rolling in and splashing on the rocks.

We brought ice cream along, which was a delicious way to start things off.  The middles were having great fun with the waves.

Mr. Trouble on Feet brought along his shovel.  This guy loves to shovel.  He just loves to dig holes everywhere.  It’s so fun to watch him so excited about his shovel.

Before long, they had discovered a bank of clay, and the clean and refreshing beach trip I had been excepting turned into mud mania.

While they were thrilled with their mud bath, Dr. Peds and I were a little apprehensive about letting them back in the car.  The clay was amazingly sticky stuff.  We had them rinse off and wipe down as best as we could, even using some old wet wipes we found in the car, and then firmly instructed them to touch NOTHING until they excited the car, whereupon we stripped them down and sent them immediately to shower.  Still, they had a tremendously good time getting messy.
