Cell Phone Girl
The Banana and I were outside playing, making red maple leaf sandwiches and running around in circles, when she took a little break and pulled out her plastic toy cell phone to make a call to Sophie, our former babysitter who departed to Indiana several months ago now. The Banana misses Sophie. We talk about Sophie every day. She took several moments to relay all of her recent activities to her imaginary Sophie, and then handed me the phone so I could talk.
In addition to shoes, sparkly jewelry, a wardrobe filled with pink attire, and the prospect of owning her own money, The Banana loves cell phones. In fact, Sophie used to let her hold her cell phone. It kept The Banana entertained for long stretches of time. While I am famously known around these parts as "the mom who doesn't have a cell phone" The Banana seems to know a lot about cell phones. For example, she pretends to take photographs on her cell phone, watch movies, listen to music and send email. I guess she'll have to invest in an iphone when she gets of age! It's all about the prospect of having multimedia at her fingertips for this girl.
I love these images and how they show how expressive this conversation was with the imaginary Sophie:
