Things I’m Loving

  • Superglue!  Oh my goodness!  I’ve been afraid of superglue my entire life. I think my parents may have filled my head with tales about gluing all my fingers together and never getting them apart again.  I’ve never really used superglue because I’ve always associated it with a dark, ominous feeling that I might loose several digits in the process.  Dr. Peds has handled all supergluing around here for 15 years, but the other day someone broke something that needed an instant repair, and I saw an unopened bottle of superglue on the counter.  After taking 15 minutes figuring out how to open the glue bottle, I had repaired the item in question in under twenty seconds.  Since then I’ve probably fixed at least eight other things around the house with superglue!  I feel like I have power!  I also still have all my fingers.
  • The leaves are turning.  As always, I love fall, and I’ve been able to go walking in the forest a lot these past few days.  I don’t have very much photographic proof of that yet, but I have been enjoying the orange and red maple leaves, which are my favorite.
  • We bought cashews from the bulk bin at our co-op healthy grocery store the other day and they are AMAZING.
  • I love that my daughter’s violin teacher lives in a little  apartment filled to the brim with music.  There’s music on shelves, music on tables, chairs, and pretty much every flat surface, and none of it appears organized.  This music mess makes me feel at home, and so much better about my own music mess (which actually IS a little bit organized, but not much).
  • I love bedding.  Really.  I love blankets and pillow cases, and especially I love down comforters with flannel duvets.  While the weather is beautiful this week, the chill of the past two weeks led me to put both down comforters back on my bed, and snuggling under all those feathers in a chilly room helps me sleep so much better!  Even better still, a few weeks ago I got a new duvet cover for the down comforter, and I’m loving it:  it has delicate and artistic botanical drawings of wildflowers, and incorporates some of my favorite bold colors.  I’ve been looking for a new comforter cover for a few years now, and I’m really excited to have found this one which fits us so perfectly.
