Accumulating Snow

It snowed on Monday, a slippery snow that caused a few traffic catastrophes around town, even though we are experienced winter people, here.  Truly, the way the snow compacted on the streets really DID make things seem more slippery than usual, especially all those steep hills, so the massive car pile ups were not entirely surprising, although a bit frightful for those involved, I’m sure.   Thankfully, I was able to happily stay home all day.  My sidekick, here, was quite excited about the yard turning back into winter wonderland.  He’s not a fan of sledding.  In fact, he doesn’t even like to be pulled around the yard in a sled.  He does LOVE a snow shovel, though.  Shoveling snow is truly his favorite part of winter.

I wholeheartedly hope this continues when he’s a teenager.

Mr. Trouble on Feet spent nearly the entire afternoon outside.  Every once in awhile he’d venture back in to warm up, and then out he’d go with his shovel again.  He looked at Dr. Peds at one point and said, “I’m not sure how many times I will go outside today.  Maybe seven.  Maybe more.”  This kidlet is far more willing to go outside than any other kidlet in our family ever was and is, and he’s motivated enough to bundle himself up, only really asking for help zipping his coat and figuring out which foot belongs on which boot.

There were shoveled paths all over the yard and the deck and the sidewalks.  His favorite of all was when he shoveled a path in the shape of a lower case “h” all the way down the front sidewalk.  He was so excited to come and get me so I could look at it.

When the big kidlets came home, there was much sledding in the front yard, but Mr. TOF stuck to his snow shovel the whole time.
