Madrace to Music Class

The past several days have been a mad rush to get everything ready for the preschool music classes I teach in the mornings on Monday and Tuesday. Every few months I write an 8-10 week curriculum for a group of toddlers and a group of preschoolers. It takes more time to write the curriculum than it does to actually teach it, and I have been in curriculum writing mode. Crazy. But it feels so good to have it all down on paper, and all the supplies ready to go. Yesterday and today were the first days of class, and I am just supremely happy. All of the classes went so well and the kids were so engaged. It just makes me so excited. Some of them have been coming to class for a year and a half now, and it is so fun to see them grow and become smart little individuals. And others of them are new and HILARIOUS.

The toddlers are singing about transportation for the next few weeks, songs about cars, buses, bicycles, trains and walking with their own two feet. The preschoolers are pretending to be explorers and are singing about backyard bugs, things they can spot from a treehouse and creatures they might meet on a hike through the forest. I love how their little minds work, hearing their voices grow, and watching them come up with the most interesting ways to play the instruments we use in class.

And we have so much fun zooming around the room to the music. If only I could actually breathe and sing while running around the room! This fetus takes a lot of oxygen!
