The West View

This is the view to the West of the farm where I grew up. One of my favorite things to do when I am home is to sit outside on a summer evening and monitor an oncoming thunderstorm. Because of the lack of forests you can see an approaching thunderstorm more than thirty or fourty miles away. I love watching the towering clouds come in across the lake. It’s so different from living in Wisconsin, where you might realize it is going to storm about ten minutes before it actually does. I love in this picture how you can see my dad’s pickup in the pasture across the lake, chasing a cow. Ms. Crazy Preschooler heard him say that the cow had jumped the fence, and she was quite concerned that all cows could jump any fences on the farm. It took quite a bit of convincing to help her understand that this cow was a fluke.
