AWANA Grand Prix Cars

The Kidlets and especially Dr. Peds were have been busy building cars that zipped down the track at the AWANA Grand Prix on Saturday.

The Banana built a kayak.  I loved it so much.  It was super fast considering it was a kayak and was carrying a somewhat clunky paddler down the track, just missing third place by a hair, and ever so tiny hair!  In fact, at first it tied for third, but on a rerun, missed by the teensiest fraction of a second.

Mr. Sneaky Pants wanted a flaming car, and it ended up being crazy fast as well.  It actually won first place.  He was pretty excited.

Mr. Trouble on Feet wasn’t old enough to be in the official race yet, but he and Dr. Peds built a car for the unofficial Cubbies race anyway.  He was probably the most excited of anyone in the family.  He’s been waiting for Grand Prix day for weeks and weeks.  He was a highly engaged spectator.  It felt kind of weird to have him sitting next to the rope by the track so engaged.  He’s gone to the Grand Prix every year of his life:  squirming in the Ergo, as a toddler who wanted to run away and eat the cars, and as a bigger kid who liked it but didn’t have such a long attention span.  I kind of felt lonesome not having to manage him the whole time!
