Sunday Night at the Beach: The Wavy Edition

The Banana invited a friend from the neighborhood to come along, and we headed to the sandy beach last Sunday evening.  YaYa was at youth group and Dr. Peds was packing for a camping trip to the Boundary Waters.  Although it wasn’t windy in our neighborhood, a breeze was pushing waves against the sand at Park Point. Sometimes at this time in the summer when the wind comes from just the right direction, all the warm water gets pushed together on a windy day, and Sunday was one of those days.  It didn’t even hurt to put your feet in!  Unfortunately we hadn’t prepared for waves and did not have life jackets along.  I was kind of a helicopter mom/mother hen, squawking at those little chicks often to keep them close to shore.  Thankfully no one got swept out to sea.  Seriously, they had so much fun in the waves.  (My rule was they couldn’t go in farther than just above their knees in the lull of a wave.).  The water was so tepid and the surf rolled so noisily that it really did feel like we were at a beach on the ocean.  He was in the waves, under the waves, on top of the waves.  This kid loves waves.  He was so happy about the waves. “The waves make me feel like I’m flying!”  she told me. He loved running along the edge trying to beat the waves.
