Trick or Treating: The Costumes

The Banana had plans to go trick or treating as a donut.  We initially planned on making her costume out of cardboard, but then realized that we didn’t have any large pieces of cardboard in our cardboard stash.  We weren’t sure what to do, when our neighbor brought over a swimming inner tube!  Perfect!  We used material and duct tape and turned it into a jelly filled donut.  The Banana and I worked with the tape.  YaYa helped hot glue buttons on the frosting for sprinkles.  The Banana was happy with the results.  Last year she was a cookie.  She has plans to continue with the dessert theme next year and thinks she will be an ice cream cone.

Mr. Trouble on Feet was an astronaut.  We had the orange space suit in our dress up box along with this race car helmet that seemed to match great.

Mr. Sneaky Pants recycled his swamp monster costume from a few years ago and went slithering along the street.

It was raining or drizzling for most of the day on Halloween, which meant that there was a lot of pent up excitement, so much that by the end of the day I was rather exhausted!  It was not a good day for throwing people outside to burn off energy.  We did manage to sneak in a neighborhood walk in the afternoon, and that helped a little bit.

This year the middle kidlets and a neighbor went off on their own to trick or treat on our street an another street around the corner where a lot of their friends live.  They were SO excited to be off and running from house to house at a fast speed on their own.  Mr. Trouble on Feet and I took things much more slowly, and we were joined by other friends with small people.  We went up and down our street, and that was the perfect amount of trick or treating.  We were thankful that the rain let up for just a bit during trick or treating time.

Everyone came back to our family room for the great candy sort, which was crazy and fun.
