Fitted with Armor
I was about to sent a couple of boxes off to the recycling bin, when Mr. SP came up to me. “Mom, I was wondering if we could keep those two boxes. I have an idea of something I would like to make with them.”
“Sure. OK. Just clean up when you are done making.”
He was off to the office for a long time, and after a bit, a very excited five year old came bounding through clad in a box. Mr. SP made him his own set of cardboard armor, complete with a cardboard sword reinforced with duct tape. He was a very happy boy, and I was so excited that Mr. SP had taken it upon himself to make something really treasured for his little brother. They aren’t the type of brothers that spend a great deal of time playing together, so it was really special.
Mr. TOF has been wearing his box all over. In fact, last week I was working with a student and Mr. TOF, clad in his box, quietly tiptoed through the foyer and up the stairs. The teenage student stopped playing and looked at me and said, “Did I really just see a box with a head walk through?”
Yes. Yes, you did.
