Opening up fun Mother’s Day Presents with my mom and three wild kidlets early in the morning
Eating French toast for breakfast at my favorite “french toast making restaurant” with my mom. Just my mom. Dr. Peds got the kids ready and off to church for the first service.
Hearing Ya Ya’s choir sing in the second service of church
Smiling my way through Sunday School and a room full of hilarious three year olds.
Hearing preschoolers joyfully sing and dance in Sunday School
Eating quick leftovers for lunch and having a glorious afternoon nap on the futon
Granting the kidlets their wish to go to the sandy beach in the afternoon after they picked up all the outside toys.
Staying at the sandy beach approximately three minutes because the wind off Lake Superior was too freezing for even them to last it out
Watching the kidlets play at a park until too many of them needed to go to the bathroom
Eating pizza at the Green Mill: delicious, but I was in crazy, bouncy company
Driving home and locking the kidlets out of the car so my husband and I could chat while they pounded on the windows trying to get back in.
Giving the kidlets pudding pops outside for a special treat at the end of the day.
Watching Dr. Peds organize our supply of slave labor to chop up some dead tree branches that fell down in the snow storm last Friday
Basking in the pure delight Mr. Sneaky Pants exhibited in getting to use both the saw AND his favorite tool in existence, the ax, to chop up branches.
Giggling at The Banana cheering “Chop Noah, Chop! Chop Chop Chop!” and “Pinch that Branch, Ya Ya! Go! Go! Go Ya Ya!”
Sending my eldest daughter inside to clean her room because she threw a bucket of muddy water on her little sister.
Sending my son inside because he kept throwing sticks into the fire even when I told him not to (they were popping back out of the fire at him).
Telling Mr. Sneaky Pants to try washing the chocolate off his face again eight times in ten minutes
Tucking tired and grouchy kidlets into bed, and being a little grouchy back at them myself
Relaxing at my computer in my super clean office (for my standards) because it’s where my mother slept last night when she came for a quick visit with a freezer full of hamburger and steak and roast.
I had a very good Mother’s day with all of you also. I thought it was great to wake up with 3 kids snuggled in the bed with me and loved my new socks and plant. French toast was GREAT, and I got to hear both you and Ya Ya sing. What better way could I have spent the 20 hours I had with you. I am tired form the drive but loved it all. Thanks a Million.
Sounds like a busy but super Mother’s Day! You are a wonderful mommy, Rachel! I think The Banana looks very, very Mason-like in the picture of her and her brother with the pudding pops where she is scrunching up her face. I can see her Auntie Dot in that picture!
