Science Night at School

My favorite part was the gigantic bugs.

Each fall the UMD science clubs (chemistry, biology and physics) do a science night at our school, with hands on science experiments.  It’s always terrific.  For the past several years I have been volunteering in the kitchen, so I missed a lot of the experiments, but this year Dr. Peds was working and I decided that it would be easier to not volunteer so I could keep track of kids.

Mr. TOF absolutely loved science night.  He made sure that he got to EVERY SINGLE station.  He liked the money soaked in alcohol that didn’t burn up.  He liked making electricity and holding a lightning stick.  He liked the flowers frozen in liquid nitrogen that shattered.  Possibly best of all, he loved the static electricity ball!  He waited for a long time for his turn, and almost gave up twice declaring that “This must just be for girls!” since all the people in line were girls with long hair that looked especially crazy when they touched the ball.  Luckily the science professor heard him sadly declare that he couldn’t do it because he was a boy, and put him right up next.

Mr. TOF thanked me at least 20 times for taking him to science night when we got home.
