People Watching

Do you like to people watch?  I highly recommend hanging out at the International Arrivals door at the airport.  Last week the two girls from Latvia arrived!  We had to be at the airport quite early, and it was a long, hard wait because we were ridiculously excited for them to arrive.  For nearly four hours, we got to watch people from all over the world fly into Minnesota.  Even though we we all probably would have rather not have had to wait SO LONG, it was really fun to watch people come through the doors as they came out of customs.  Some people were grumpy.  Some were in a hurry.  But there were so many people being greeted by loved ones they hadn’t seen for a long time.  There were colorful welcome signs, big hugs, tears, jumping and leaping.  Kids and toddlers ran up to parents to hug them.  Moms swept up babies and snuggled them close.  Grandchildren raced toward grandparents.

When our girls from Latvia finally came through the doors with their chaperone we were ready with our signs, smiles and big waves.  My heart was a flutter.

We’ve had a terrific first week! So much fun!   I have so much to tell you about, and so little time to use the computer.  Bit by bit I hope to write about snippets of our hosting experience these next few weeks.
