On the cello I learned one large piece and several small pieces, along with a 3 octave scale.
On the piano I learned a 3 part invention by J.S. Bach and a few short pieces by Granados.
I learned that I really need to create some kind of a system for checking my clothes when I get dressed. I ended up wearing a pair of comfy pants inside out and backwards to a parent teacher conference this month. I don’t think anyone noticed because the tags and pockets were covered by my extra roomy sweatshirt (the best kind of sweatshirt) and the seams just looked a little extra sporty. But still. Sigh. I didn’t notice until I left the school and drove to a hiking trail and wondered where my pockets were when I needed to put my key into my pocket.
Silent movies with organ accompaniment are the bees knees! I’m usually not a fan of old silent movies. In fact, I don’t really enjoy movies that much, but in October I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a silent movie accompanied by live organ music, and it was so fun! Best of all, my kids convinced me to sit up in the balcony next to the organ. I was sure there wouldn’t be room at in the balcony because all the seating at Sacred Heart Music Center was nearly full by the time we arrived, but lo and behold, there was hardly anyone in the balcony (and I was so surprised they even let people up there!) and we had the best seats in the house. We could see the screen perfectly, and out of the corner of our eye watch the AMAZING organist who was improvising everything. It was so fun! The kidlets loved it.
