2010 Adventures in Soccer: Part 2

It was 85 degrees, or hotter, and I’m not sure that it was even possible to get any more humid without raindrops just appearing out of thin air.  To cool down the pint sized players, one of the soccer coaches brought a small cooler filled with ice cubes.  The ice cubes were a tremendous hit, especially with Mr. SP.  Nearly all the players couldn’t wait to take a break so they could play with the ice cubes.  Most of them didn’t want to go back in the game.  I’m sure it kind of seemed like torture, chasing an obstinate ball across the grass and constantly running up against the enemy’s sneakers when it was so sweaty and miserable out.  There were often innocent comments from our team members like this, “I really wish this game was done.”  and “I will be very excited when we don’t have to do this anymore.”  They all hung in there, though, despite their dwindling energy levels.
