Random Bits

  • All of my babies have worn this super cute red fleece hooded jacket.  They are always fun to snuggle when they wear it, and Mr. SP is no exception.
  • I used the last zucchini my mother-in-law sent home with me from the cabin almost a month ago to make zucchini muffins.  The zucchini was so enormous that I had to take all the quantities in the recipe times 5.  The muffins are good.  That is excellent, because there are a lot of them.
  • There are less than two days left before The Banana turns four.  She grew so much over the last year.  I want to deprive her of vegetables and put a cement block on her head to slow things down.

  • School is going well for Mr. SP and Ya Ya.  We almost missed the bus on the first day (I had forgotten to fill out some paperwork and I was trying to do it at the last minute and scrambling all over the place, and then Mr. SP forgot to comb his hair and couldn’t get his shoes on) but we made it.  I was a bit frantic.  I still have a major fear of missing the school bus, and unfortunately, I think I’m passing that along to my children.  Needless to say, I didn’t take very many pictures, especially since after the other kids at the bus stop boarded the bus, I looked up and saw a paper sign on the window for a different school, and yelled at my own kids to wait. Wrong bus!  Then, the idiot that I was, I noticed another, smaller, green piece of paper in the window with our school on it.  The other mothers probably thought I was a basket case, especially since I was at the bus stop in my unmatching pajamas.  Oh well.
  • Mr. SP is adjusting well to kindergarten.  On the first day when I picked him up he was negative about EVERYTHING, but when he got home and saw Dr. Peds, he was happy about everything that happened at school.  It might have been because Dr. Peds told him we could go out to eat for lunch to celebrate the first day of school, and I just asked how things had gone.  Since the first day, Mr. SP has been remarkably cheerful when I pick him up from school.
  • On the second day of school, when I woke up the biggest kidlets, Mr. SP threw himself to the ground dramatically and yelled and moaned, “You’re TORTURING ME!  You don’t love me!  Don’t make me get dressed!  I don’t want to brush my teeth!  YOU’RE TORTURING ME!  Why are you TORTURING ME!”  I looked at him and told him he’d have to find a way to deal with it, since he’d probably be going to school for the rest of his life.  Or almost that long.

  • Over the weekend we drove down to The Cities to visit our friends who live in Maple Grove so I could take pictures of their kids.  It’s a good thing they have a big house, because between the two of our families, there were twelve people, eight under eight years old.  They have the most photogenic children in the world, and the pictures are going to be beautiful.  I’m in the process of editing them right now.  We had a wonderful time visiting them, of course.  Unfortunately Ya Ya and The Banana came down with a feverish bug and miserable sore throats, and right before we left, The Banana threw up in the parking lot at the park.
  • Mr. Sneaky Pants loved this climbing structure at the park in Maple Grove.  It was very tall, and he was very proud to make it to the top.
