Mama Concerts

It’s Christmas concert weekend for the Arrowhead Chorale.  The music will be beautiful, and I will have a fantastic time personality-watching.  I’m convinced that the most interesting places to personality-watch are middle schools and choirs.  Both places have such an eclectic assortment of people.  I have all my babysitters lined up (Dr. Peds is on call) and I plan to have a lot of fun watching people when I’m not watching the conductor.

I also ended up learning to play the tenor recorder to play in a recorder ensemble that will be playing “eating music” for our multiple course dinner that goes along with the concert. The choir sings between the courses.  The recorders play while people are eating.  In the past I’ve played instruments I actually know how to play while people are eating.  This year I learned the tenor recorder.  It has been an interesting experience.  It’s good to learn new things.  My husband has finally stopped begging me to go to an uninhabited corner of the house when I’m practicing the tenor recorder, so I’d like to think that maybe I”m improving a bit.

A few weeks ago the public television station did a taping of the Arrowhead Chorale rehearsing for our concerts this weekend.  If you want to watch the edited clip that has been playing on television you can watch here.  Since I don’t have a TV and hadn’t seen it, when the link was emailed to me last night I watched the video clip.  I was simultaneously tickled pink with how nicely they edited the segment and what a good job they did, and disturbed to the point of insomnia with how terrible I look on the video clip that has been airing often on television.  Ho hum.  It’s never ever fun to see yourself on TV.
