Forest Adventures

Peanut Maximus loves his balance bike, and a few weeks ago I started taking him to Hartley to ride on the trails. I wasn’t sure how far we’d get, but it didn’t take long and he was zooming around a flat loop that has to be close to a mile long. We’ve been going pretty frequently because our street is undergoing some major construction that has put our normal sidewalk routine out of commission for a bit. Plus, it is really fun to be riding and walking through the forest! Luckily Peanut Maximus stops and waits for me when he gets far ahead, because he can definitely ride faster than my walking pace, especially when he’s going down a slope of some sort. He loves going over the trail bridges, and there are even a few small ramps in the forest that he is so excited about riding up and down.

Peanut Maximus especially loves driving over the little dam by the pond. He will just ride back and forth, back and forth. He’d do it all day if I didn’t encourage him to move on! We usually stop and play a bit at the playscape next to the nature center before we head back to the car.
