May Day

Maybasket

One of my favorite holidays has always been May Day, even though I never really manage to do much to celebrate it.  I have fond memories of being a preschooler, convinced that I would marry my best friend's big brother, Trevor Flanders.  When I was about four years old, I made  many May Day baskets for Trevor, which I happily presented to  him prior to chasing him all around the yard so I could kiss him.  Luckily he was two years older than I, and he could run a lot faster.

Last Friday,  I was cleaning up in the family room when the doorbell rang.  I zipped to the front door, and found this lovely May basket.  There was no one in sight.  I smiled big.  I love May baskets.  I picked it up and came around the corner, and there was Sarah, hiding behind me, giggling away.  She  made the basket at school, put it on the door knob and then ran around the house and came in the back door.  Very clever.  I gave her big kisses.  I think she's hooked on May Day, too.
