Mercy Watson Fan

Peanut Maximus has been requesting an audiobook or two during rest time each day, and hands down his favorite stories are the Mercy Watson books by Kate DiCamillo. We’ve branched out to listen to lots of other stories too, but at least four times a week he’s asking for Mercy Watson. Because three year olds are absolute sponges, he has whole swaths of Mercy Watson stories memorized, and bits of spontaneous narration seem to come out at the most surprising times.

Mr. TOF and I might be having a conversation in the front of the car when up pipes, “Who needs neighbors?” in a grouchy old lady voice from the backseat. We look at each other and crack up!

Some of our other favorite lines that have come out of the blue include:

“As I suspected! It was the pig!”

“Return to bed IMMEDIATELY!”

Side note: Peanut Maximus also relishes a slice of toast with a great deal of butter as a snack. I mean, really, who doesn’t?
