Things that Have Been Working

Here are some things that have been working well this winter:

  • Last year a friend gifted me a colorful set of mittens that were knitted wool on the outside and fleece lined in the inside, and I have worn them all of last winter and this winter. They are the perfect thickness (not too bulky so that you can’t grab things, but so warm at the same time!) and the colors make me happy. Unfortunately last week both thumbs managed to get a huge hole in the knitted part of the mitten, which means that sadly they won’t be working wonders for me much longer! I’m hoping to eek them along until the end of this winter, though.
  • Both my trusty muk luks and my everyday Bog snow boots that can go through all kinds of mess have been work horses this winter. There is nothing warmer and more lovely than those muk looks, and they are so comfortable. Last winter I got new Bogs because my other ones gave out after constant use for a decade and a half, and I like the new ones even better! They have some terrific grips on the bottom.
  • Speaking of Bogs, the big kids never had Bogs when they were small, although The Banana loved having them when her feet were full grown. Dr. Peds always thought they were too expensive for growing feet. But YaYa is an amazing thrifter, and she has procured Bogs for Ezrah in all the upcoming sizes, and I have to say, they are especially great for kids. They slip on. They slip off. They are warm. They can go through messy stuff like nothing else. I am so lucky to have them.
  • Kid headphones have been a game changer for all the times Peanut Maximus have to wait in the car for music lessons, appointments and other things that Mr. TOF is busy doing. Peanut Maximus loves listening to music with the headphones, and I love that he can do that and I can quietly read at the same time. Waiting in the car is no longer such a battle, and that is a huge gift.
  • Peanut Maximus has also embraced the world of audiobooks, and that has been terrific for quiet time at home too.
