Visiting YaYa: Part Five

While we were visiting YaYa there was a massive snowstorm that dropped 5 feet of snow on the mountain. That was a lot of snow!

As the storm was beginning to settle in, I went on a long walk on a walking path that connects all the important parts of the town together. YaYa and Mr. TOF headed out to go skiing, and I decided to walk however long I wanted. The walking path was incredibly scenic, and since the weather had been warm it was also free from ice and snow, which meant I could zip along in just my tennis shoes, a treat unto itself. The snow was just beginning to settle in over the tops of the mountain range, and it was so beautiful. I got back after a couple of hours of walking just in time for the heavy snow to start. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip, and I have no pictures since I didn’t want to bring my camera while I was walking.

The super snowy weather made for the perfect hot tub weather, and YaYa’s apartment happened to have a hot tub for the resident community to share just across the driveway from her door. We frequented it almost every night in some combination. The hot tub happened to be behind a locked gate, and unfortunately YaYa and her roommates did not have a code for the lock even though they were allowed to use the hot tub if they wanted to. This meant that actually we broke into the hot tub each night. Usually Mr. TOF was the one to scale the gate with his long legs, flip over the top and open the door from the inside. It felt a little criminal even if it wasn’t. On the last night, when the heaviest snow was falling and there was a path snow blown to the hot tub, there were some people already using it when we arrived at the gate. YaYa tried shouting at them to let us in, but either they ignored us on purpose, standing in the middle of the blizzard in our swimwear, or they genuinely didn’t hear us because they were all watching movies on their phones propped up in shoes with headphones in their ears. Either way, they didn’t open the gate, and this time YaYa had to scale the fence because Mr. TOF decided not to come. The gate was a little trickier for a shorter person to climb, but she did it! I thought she might get stuck at the top, but eventually she wiggled her way over! It will be a funny memory to store up!
