Visiting YaYa: Part Four

While we were exploring at Mono Lake, we came across a little hot spring that was feeding freshwater into the salt water. It barely even smelled, which was a far cry from the hot springs we were around when we visited YaYa in Colorado last year. It was fun to see the water burbling up, and how the hot water vapor made frost on the plants nearby. The hot spring was small, but deep, and the water was perfectly clear.

When I was visiting the interpretive center at the summit of Mammoth Mountain, there was a little display about Mono Lake and how Mark Twain visited there and wrote about the strange landscape. It was neat to read his impressions the day after we visited and the experience was so fresh in my mind.

These rocks looked like they would barely come up to my knee when we got out of the car, but when we walked closer they ended up being three or four times taller than a person. They were so interesting.

Mr. TOF found this stick that looked just like an antler!
