Regatta Day

Dr. Peds was supposed to hang out with Peanut Maximus on regatta day, because regattas can be long and slow, and this one was forecast to be hot as well. Peanut Maximus was hopping mad that he wasn’t going to be going to the regatta when his big siblings left at the crack of dawn, but in the end Dr. Peds got summoned to help for a few hours at the hospital and Peanut Maximus did end up going to the regatta for a few hours with me, much to his delight. It worked out well, because right as the sun really started to beat down and he was starting to get a little tired of the situation Dr. Peds showed up and whisked him away after The Banana’s first race.
The Banana raced in a four, a double and an eight. Mr. TOF cannot row because of his broken wrist, but he coxed a four and an eight. He was supposed to cox another eight, but as logistics went, he wasn’t quite off the water with his first eight in time to launch the second eight, so a different person stepped in. It was pretty funny to see how scrunched up he was in the four! You can’t really see it from the pictures, but the side view from the race was hilarious. It’s a lot of leg to fit in a small little compartment!
It was such a hot and sunny day! I’m not usually out during the middle of the day, so the relentless sun off the water made me so incredibly exhausted by the end, and I didn’t even do anything other than sit and sweat! I drank so much water at the regatta and back at home; It felt like my body couldn’t catch up! I wore my sunhat all day, reapplied sunscreen multiple times, and was wearing a thin long sleeve shirt to make sure I was covered, but I even got sunburned through my shirt! It wasn’t a bad sunburn, but still! Good grief! My face was a little pink under the eyes too, even with all of the sunscreen because we all were just sweating the sunscreen right off.
It was a lot of fun to watch all the boats, and the people watching was good too!
At the end of the day Peanut Maximus was taking a cool bath, playing with some boats in the tub, and he was actually pretending to cox the boats, giving them instructions about how to get off the dock. “Over above your heads! Step to the side! Roll it over! Drop it down to the water! Slowly!” He has intense eyes on what his big brother is doing at all times. It was incredibly adorable.
