Surprise!

I got home from chorale rehearsal on Sunday night just in time for my husband to answer the phone.  It was Dot, saying she'd be at our house in ten minutes.  Surprise!  She's on her way to work out in the wilderness again, and was able to spend all day yesterday with us.  The kidlets were entirely elated when they woke up and saw their favorite canine friend zipping around the house.  Since Monday is the official slow day around here, we were able to lounge around, and spend some unhurried time with Auntie Dot.  The kidlets played catch with the puppy outside.  We visited the library (the puppy stayed home).  There was lots of snuggling with that fantastic auntie.  

The Banana was very enthralled with encouraging the puppy to eat and drink.  What a patient puppy.  The Banana was so happy to see her furry friend. All the stories she tells when we make up stories are about Auntie Dot's puppy and how it chases balls, and makes them dirty.  At the end of every story they get a nice new clean ball.  

While out on a walk with the puppy (which was especially exciting since we'd just been to the store a few days ago and picked out a special green leash to keep at our house just for when Dot and the puppy visit this summer) Mr. Sneaky Pants found some sticks that Auntie Dot fashioned into a special knight battle ax. 

Auntie Dot is a marvelous guest reader.  Mr. Sneaky Pants had several favorites for her to read, and in the evening Sarah read out loud to Auntie Dot in between chapters of Because of Winn Dixie.
