The Best Little Bike

Long ago, when we lived in Bismarck, our neighbors had a little girl one year older than Sarah.  The little tyke was a prodigious bicycle rider (she understood the gross motor concept of pedaling at a very, very early age) and had a small bicycle of her own that the pedaled furiously up and down the sidewalk from our house to her house.  One day her mom brought over this plastic foot bike that the little girl had outgrown and didn't use anymore since she was now pedaling.  The little girl was FURIOUS at her mom for giving the bike to Sarah.  She would sneak over and take it back to her house.  I offered to just give it back, but her mom was firm.

The bike was the highlight of Sarah's little toddler life.  Sarah rode it and rode it.  When Mr. SP came along, she was furious that she had to let him ride the bike (she was about ten inches too tall for it at the time).  Mr. SP rode and rode and rode the bike, and last year when The Banana was big enough to use it, you should have seen the family conflicts.  Thankfully, he has a bike of his own that he enjoys pedaling now, and The Banana has this one to herself.  She loves it as much as the rest, zipping along sidewalks and down our little hill in all seasons.
