PBJ

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have become the favorite food of Mr. Sneaky Pants.  He asks for them for breakfast, supper, and lunch EVERY day.  Of course, I don't actually let him eat peanut butter sandwiches for every meal and snack, but we do have them a couple of times each week, usually for lunch on days when we are rushing home from preschool or music class and I will be teaching in the early afternoon.

Whenever I relent and agree to peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, there is much celebration from The Banana and Mr. Sneaky Pants.  They typically throw off their outerwear, run and grab the stepstool or their kid sized chairs, and drag them over to the kitchen counter, while I scrounge around for the peanut butter and jelly.  Part of the draw of eating PBJ for lunch (in addition to the sugary jam on the sandwich) is the process of making the sandwich themselves.  They love spreading and construction the sandwiches and then snarfing them down as fast as possible along with a banana and some carrot sticks.

Some of the peanut butter usually doesn't quite make it to the sandwich.  It gets slurped up in transit. Don't worry, we use dull plastic knives, so everyone's tongue is at least safe.

They are so proud of their culinary accomplishments.  That probably makes the sandwiches taste just a smidgen better.
