Rug

This is the rug under the music stand in my living room.

It has been a busy week!  The past two days were filled with Arrowhead Chorale concerts:  on Saturday night in Minneapolis, and Sunday afternoon in Duluth.  We have been working for six or seven weeks on a stack of Jewish music, which proved to be fantastic music to sing.  The tunes were catchy, and they're still playing in my head tonight.  The most challenging thing was learning so much language.  There were all kinds of Hebrew dialects to digest, and just lots and lots and lots of fast words to get under tongue.  On Saturday night we sang in a Synagogue for a very large audience, and then rushed back north in the middle of the night on the freeway to get ready for our Sunday afternoon concert.  We flew in a guest conductor from Boston for the week who was an expert in Jewish music and culture, and the whole experience was just eye opening and interesting in so many different ways.  Both concerts went well, I believe.  As well as they possibly could.

My wonderful husband held down the fort here at home a lot this week while I was off to exhausting rehearsals and concerts, and this evening he was even kind enough to send me off to Barnes and Nobles to nibble on a brownie while I read Facing North (a terrific book of photographs and essays about Ely, Minnesota) to celebrate and relax before he goes back to work for the next three nights and days.  It was great.
