Giving In

These days there’s almost always a string of drool hanging down from Squirmy’s chin.  Although it makes snuggles and kisses a bit slobbery for my personal taste, I know that someday soon all that drool will disappear and then I’ll miss having a drooling baby, so I embrace it each day.

There are two looks Squirmy gives me that pretty much render me helpless and make me give him whatever he wants.  One look his is signature bright eyed smile.  The other is this puppy dog drool face.  When he looks at me like this I pretty much cannot help but to scoop him up and give him pretty much whatever makes him happy.  It’s far more effective than whining or crying.  He knows this and uses it frequently.

He might be a scrawny, lanky thing, but let me tell you, he gets around FAST, amazingly fast.  He’s also very strong.  Two days ago  I was holding him and he somehow managed to propel himself right out of my arms and do a dive for the floor.  Luckily I caught him by the ankle upside down at the very last second.  He was literally inches from landing on his head.  Things just happen to this baby.  It’s crazy:  meconium in the amniotic fluid when he was born (thankfully it didn’t get in his lungs), an infected finger when he was just barely home from the hospital, reflux, colic,  a hair wrapped around his toe that almost caused some major damage because it was cutting off the circulation, the major choking incident, and now almost getting dropped.  Yikes.  He’s kind of a catastrophe.  But a cute catastrophe.

I do believe his eyes are going to take this all boy some interesting places. With a loving Mom, Dad, siblings, and God watching over him he is in safe hands. Be interesting to see what he will be some day. He is loved.
