Pattison State Park Part 1: Hiking

Last Saturday afternoon we took Grandma Kathy to Pattison State Park in Wisconsin to do a bit of hiking and sight seeing.  I love going to this state park, especially in the fall.  It’s gorgeous.  The first time we visited Pattison State Park I was pregnant with Mr. SP, we lived in Wisconsin, and moving to Northern Minnesota was far, far off the radar.  It’s kind of fun to visit now and see many of the same things we saw then and realize we live right NEXT to this park now.  Crazy.

Anyway, the hike was beautiful.  We hiked the trail down by the really tall falls all the way to the bottom of the river, and then spent some time playing in the water and on the rocks.  YaYa  built a rock tower.  Mr. SP splashed and wacked the water with sticks.  Mr. Trouble on Feet rode down on his daddy’s back and was really happy to throw rocks into the water and catch leaves in his hands.  The Banana entertained Grandma.  We also visited the smaller falls and tromped around at the top and bottom of the waterfall.  I loved all the different views of the falls.  I just love waterfalls, and the leaves were beautiful too.

The weather was so warm it was almost TOO warm for hiking, which was ridiculous given that it was October.
