Visiting Great Grandma Jan

YaYa has been asking and asking the last few months to please, please, please go see Grandma Jan.  She’s not the type of kid who enjoys talking on the phone, unlike her brother and sister, so calling Grandma Jan on the telephone was not an option for her.  Seeing Grandma Jan was one of the most anticipated parts of our short trip, and unfortunately, she only got over to Grandma’s house one time because the trip was so very quick.  However, she brought a backpack along stuffed with drawings and paintings of birds and bird books to show Great Grandma.  YaYa is seriously obsessed with birds, and she is remarkably talented at drawing birds.  Every trip to the book store and library involves examining more bird books.  She thinks James Audobon was amazing.  Anyway, Great Grandma Jan had much to do with this bird inspiration when she gave YaYa a book about birds that also plays recorded bird songs.  The book was very much treasured and since then, knowledge about birds from all over the world has exploded at our house.

Looks like they both are enjoying talking together, how many times does this occur for a girl and her greatgrandmother to share such good moments.
