A Short but Great Visit: The Connor Pictures

Let me start by saying that hardly any of these pictures turned out anything like I had envisioned, and I was disappointed when I opened up the original files on my computer and realized that I really didn’t have my photographer brain on when I visited Connor because my Auntie brain was operating with full force gusto.  It didn’t help that I realized after I got home that one of the lenses I had been using had focus issues.  Thank goodness I had been switching lenses. I’ll have to send the misbehaving lens in to the lens hospital.  Over time, some of these images have grown on me, and some of them I actually have really grown to like.  I once again was reminded of a few lessons I  learned before:

1.  Newborn photography is really hard for me and I don’t think I’ll ever have quite the right eyes for it.  But I do love babies.  And I do love taking pictures of them.

2.  I am really bad at giving people directions about what to do when I’m taking a picture.  I’d really rather sit across the room and spy on people through a big lens they find uncomfortable.  It works so much better for me to take pictures of people just acting more natural.

3.  Backdrops are not my friend.  Ever.  I really like the pictures of people holding Connor when he’s wrapped up in a blanket or just hanging out and snuggling better than the contrived pictures that didn’t turn out at all like I envisioned them.

4.  My brother usually gets grumpy when I try to take his picture.

BUT, isn’t this baby amazing?  Adorable!  Magnificent!  I’m so smitten and so sad he lives hundreds of miles away from me.
