Snow Days

We had a blizzard yesterday, a fast and furious storm that whipped many inches of snow all about and kept everyone inside and cozy.  Because not all the streets were plowed, the kidlets got an extra snow day today, a nice reward for a great deal of shoveling they did after the wind died down last night.  They worked so hard shoveling while Dr. Peds was snowplowing that every single one of them actually ASKED to go to bed when they got inside.  They didn’t even want to read!

While the storm was raging, each big kidlet had a long, luxurious bath.  We read and read books by the fire, snuggled up under warm blankets watching the snow whip around outside. In the afternoon we did a kid swap with our friends up the hill, which really passed the cooped up time nicely.  The girls went there, and the boys came here.  It was an excellent arrangement and quelled much of the squabbling.

The kidlets are overjoyed, immeasurably thrilled, that the plow came through out streets and left a huge pile of snow as a barrier to the street, so now they can finally sled down the steep slope in our front yard and crash into the snowbank without going down into the street.  They have been so frustrated about not being able to do this all winter long.  It keeps them busy for hours.
