In Honor of Grandma Robbie

Daisy

These are my mom’s favorite kind of flowers (to my knowledge, anyway) and whenever we see shasta daisies, we always think of her.  I even have the kidlets trained to search them out.  They call them “Gramma Robbie flowers.”  Right now shasta daisies are growing at such prolific rates they almost seem like weeds. They are everywhere:  covering the forest floor, popping up on people’s lawns, in flower beds galore, along the side of the road in the ditch, in patches of unmowed turf all over the city.  We’ve been thinking of Gramma Robbie a lot.  Every time we turn around, there’s another shasta daisy.  These particular daisies, in the above image, are not true shasta daisies.  They are soaring above flower bed, and their leaves look slightly different.  They are also over six feet tall, much taller than me.  We do have lots of shasta daisies too, though, most of them creeping out of places they probably shouldn’t be.  I”m not the most faithful weeder.  I’m perfectly OK with wild shasta daisies in weird places.
