New Residence

Last Friday Sarah was home from school during the afternoon because of kindergarten round-up. She played Uno with Dr. Peds. She read a few books. She created beautiful jewelry with plastic beads. She played nicely by herself with Legos, and by the time I got back from volunteering at the school library, she was bored stiff. The lack of siblings to torment (The Banana and Mr. Sneaky Pants were both zonked out for nap) was really getting this child down in the dumps. So I pulled out a spare wooden house I had found in the craft store on clearance a few weeks ago and let her paint away in the basement. Isn’t her decor bright and cheery? I especially like the stripey roof. Who wouldn’t want to live in a house with a stripey roof, I ask you? There are some small wooden people that belong with the house that she also painted, and while all the paint was drying, she talked her dad into helping her make cardboard furniture for the interior of her new abode: a table, chairs, a stove, a cardboard carpet, a queen sized bed, and a computer. My husband is a genius with some spare cardboard, a knife and a stapler.
