Honey Butter and Pomegranate Juice

Greg has found an amazing bread store not far away. We are very excited about this, because ever since we moved away from Bismarck, we have all been missing The Bread Poets bakery terribly. Although I haven’t actually been in our local bread store, I CAN attest that the bread is very, very similar to Bread Poet bread, and that the Dakota loaf is amazingly delicious. I am probably going to end up spending a small fortune there.

Over the past few days, Greg has brought home different kinds of bread, granola and oatmeal for our family to sample. With these carbohydrate offerings, came a tub of honey butter. He asked me if I’d try some. I said no thank you. I’m not a big fan of honey. (Although, my parents give me buckets of THE MOST AWESOME honey ever that they get from a beekeeper that has hives on their land, and I DO like that honey). I especially don’t like to mix butter with sweet things on toast or bread. I don’t even like jam and butter mixed together. So I declined the honey butter.

But he persisted. He wheeled and dealed, and aggravated me to no end about my dislike of trying new things that I probably would like. And I gave in.

I nibbled a corner of an English muffin with a little honey butter . . . just a tad. Immediately I was running across the kitchen to the sink, gagging and spitting, completely repulsed. I haven’t been that close to vomiting over food for a long time. It was so incredibly disgusting. My eyes were watering. I couldn’t stop gagging. I finally made my way over to the fridge and grabbed the first liquid product I could find with a strong taste, which happened to be a small jug of pomegranate juice. I guzzled a small tupperware glass of that sweet, strong liquid, and it thankfully eradicated the honey butter taste out of my mouth.

Pomegranate juice is terrific stuff. If only it weren’t so expensive! I love tangerine pomegranate juice. Sometimes I mix it with a little grapefruit juice. It is so amazing. Only recently have I tried pomegranate, and only last week did I try pomegranate juice. I think I might be hooked. It is so healthy and tasty I may have to buy a small jug each week. Honeybutter
