My Brother, His Terrific Wife, and My Nephews

I might have more of images of these wonderful people to post later, when I do more editing.  My mom and dad recently vacationed in the Bahamas, and brought back a little flute and a maraca for my nephews.  I LOVE this last image, my incredible, winsome sister-in-law (how much I appreciate her is subject for a post of its own) getting bonked in the nose by a maraca.  That’s exactly what one-year-olds do:  they shake their maracas and then figure you ought to try too, so they thrust it right in your face.  I also love the big grin on Jack’s face.

My mother handed me the little flute when Jack got tired of it, and I proceeded to entertain everyone with a variety of wonderful tunes when I figured out the fingering system.  Unfortunately, my dad and brother were seriously unimpressed with my music making.  In fact, they commented that they certainly had not missed all of my practicing during the last almost two decades that I haven’t lived with them.  Someday they will come to their senses.  In the meantime, it probably isn’t a good idea for them to do any long term visiting at my house, since there is merry music making of all sorts all the day long, in every shape and form of child development and then my own practicing besides.  Helping other people make a joyful noise is what I do best.
