Duet

He’s her biggest fan, and his adoration for her oboe runs deep.  He waits all day for YaYa to practice oboe in the evening.  He’s always been enamored of the wonderful sounds from that black and silver pipe, but she really sent him over the moon when she learned to play Old MacDonald Had a Farm.  He loves to join in on the “EEEE I EEEEE I OOOOOOOO!”  He begs her to play it again.  And again.  And again.

This week he’s been carrying around a pink plastic tube, (a boomwacker from music class, actually) and calling it his oboe.  He loves to give concerts to anyone who will sit still long enough to clap and cheer at the end of his “EEEEE I EEEEE I OOOOOOOO” sung into the tube.  When the oboe gets boring, he picks up a drum mallet and turns the tube into a violin and plays that for awhile.  He knows that The Banana is dying to start violin, and he definitely likes to be a vital part of the mix around here.

YaYa is so very patient.  She lets him listen in while she practices.  She works out her music in front of the fire, and he sits on the couch and watches every move she makes and listens to every note she plays.  On Tuesday night Dr. Peds alerted me to the fact that they were playing duets together, and I managed to sneak in a few frames with my camera.

I love it. What a fantastic big sister! I can’t wait for my own personal concert. I wonder what instrument Isaiah will want to play.
