Visiting the Maritime Museum

In an effort to make spring break interesting and exciting, on Tuesday morning I suggested that we go to the Maritime museum and then the grocery store.  The free Maritime Museum down by the ship canal is a great little museum, and even though I’ve been there many times now, I always find something new and interesting when I go.  It had been months and months since we had visited, and it was like a brand new place for the three youngest kidlets (YaYa elected to stay home for the morning to read).  Isaiah was so excited about all the ship models and steering the big wheel in the pilot house.  We totally lucked out and saw the bridge rise twice, once to let a dredge on a barge pushed by two tugboats out of the canal, and once to let in the C.S.L. Niagara into port (it was picking up coal).  We spent a long, long time looking out the monoculars at the front window of the museum.  The dredge was particularly interesting.  We were having such a good time we stayed as long as we possibly could before rushing to the grocery store and heading home in time to have lunch before piano lessons.
