A Spot with Dot

Auntie Dot and her friend Don are here visiting for the weekend. After spending all Friday in great anticipation of her arrival and then having to actually go to bed before Auntie Dot arrived, Mr. Sneaky Pants and Sarah were elated to wake up and find her here this morning. Auntie Dot tagged along to Saturday morning swimming lessons. On the way home, we showed her Sarah’s school, and some interesting views of Lake Superior. Dr. Peds cooked up some of his stinky spaghetti pie that he was storing in the deep freezer for lunch, and it was enjoyed by all except for myself, who had a tortilla with cheese instead (fruit on the side). While waiting for the finishing touches on their lunch dishes, Sarah taught Auntie Dot how to balance plastic plates on the tips of her fingers, and how to swipe her neighbor’s utensils to make walrus faces. Luckily Auntie Dot has a flexible stance on table manners.

While the small people in the house were napping this afternoon, Dot, Don and I hiked one of my favorite hiking trails with lots of great waterfalls. We spent the late afternoon taking a freezing cold walk down at the lakewalk. The breeze was quite nippy, but the waves were amazing. The wind was from the perfect direction to really cause some splashing and spray. We checked out some fun shops down by the lake and then zipped back home to feed kidlets and tuck them into bed.
