At the Cabin Part 8: Uncle Bryan Reads, with Amphibian Company

After arriving at the cabin, I hopped out of the car  with a sigh of relief to be out of that transportation trap (car rides with my family are not my forte!).  Two seconds later  I was excitedly told all about how the cousins had been creating a frog terrarium in a large hollowed out plastic pot that looks like a polka dotted elephant.  That’s the kind of creativity that runs rampant in this family.

The cousins had caught more than 15 frogs, all of whom were in the elephant and had been undergoing minor torture for the past day and a half, or so.  The fearless Auntie Dot had plans to rescue the frogs at night after everyone had gone to bed, but before she did, Uncle Bryan happened to be peacefully reading in the hammock.

One of his daughters dropped a frog friend on the pillow next to him.

I’m not sure if he realized the frog was there or not, but if he did know of his reading pal, he didn’t react.  The frog, probably thrilled to be released from the plastic elephant and somewhat suspicious about what was going to happen next, stayed on the pillow for a long, long time before hopping away once the cousins had lost interest.

If you are a long time reader of this blog, you might recall how frogs play into the entertainment at the cabin each year.  Generation after generation of  frogs fall suspect to the clutches of kids at the cabin.
