All of the Sudden

This is Mr. Perpetual Mess, after finishing a bowl of chopped apples for a snack. He actually ASKED me to take pictures of him so he could look for the robot he thinks lives in my camera lens.

In the last two days this little guy has:

1. Learned to peddle his trike like a tasmanian devil. He could pedal before, but we haven’t had the trike out for a few weeks, and all of the sudden, he can zip around like nobody’s business.

2. Learned to ride his sister’s castaway turquoise and pink bike with training wheels. And no, he doesn’t care that the bike has substantial areas that are covered in pink. He’s just thrilled to be riding a real bike, and actually loves that it’s pink. Today he even convinced me to drive everybody and the pink bike (which is so small it fits in the back of the van) down to the lakewalk, where he pedaled a half mile . . . slowly and carefully, on level ground, as he hasn’t conquered stopping yet.

3. Learned to string tiny beads with amazing coordination. I was fully prepared to do the stringing as he picked out the beads to make Auntie Dot’s birthday jewelry for her upcoming birthday at the lake cabin, but he just looked at me and stated, “I can do this myself.” And he did, much more efficiently than I would have ever dreamed possible.

4. Learned to put on his own elastic waist pair of shorts.

I know all of these things are normal, but there have been so many new developments in such a short few hours. Where is my BABY? And his baby sister is starting to WALK!
