HiYaaaaaaa!

Mr. Trouble on Feet has discovered the joy of whacking sticks on trees, and any other object that he isn’t forbidden to strike, actually.  The pounding is  accompanied  with loud “HiYaaaa”s and some crazy little boy aggression.    He has also begun to enjoy light saber fighting with Mr. Sneaky Pants.  “Me Hiya you,” he tells Mr. SP, and then they go at it and I am certain someone is going to come to some serious harm.  Often it’s Mr. SP that gets the brunt of it:  a blow to the face or a scratch on the lip or a poke to the belly.

In fact, Mr. TOF  just really enjoys being a boy.  He loves to talk about how he is growing, about how he used to be a baby and he used to be little, but now he’s a boy. He often tells me how he’s sad that I’m not a boy.

“Mama’s can’t be boys,” I say.

The other day he told me,  “Maybe when you’re three you can be a boy, Mama.”

Of course, that’s all tempered with the fact that he really does love his sisters too, and wants to be just like them.    He loves to have YaYa paint his toenails and snatches a certain pink tutu belonging to The Banana to wear while she’s at school.
