Happy Birthday: Mr. SP Embraces 9

Breakfast in the bathtub!  Mr. SP chose donuts, much to the delight of everyone involved.  He likes Bavarian Cream.  So do I.  Everyone liked the choices.

Immediately after finishing breakfast, we headed to the dining room for present opening.  There were many wonderful treasures: clothes, books, National Geographic Magazine!, headphones, and the skateboard that has been sitting in the basement for a year waiting for my boy to earn it, (he didn’t, so we finally just decided to give it to him for his birthday, and he was super duper excited).  There were birthday coupons.  Each birthday the kidlets get a sum of money (to them it’s a large sum of money) to spend in a gift catalog for World Vision or Smaritan’s Purse.  They LOVE, love, love looking through the catalogs and deciding how to spend the money, and seeing them think so hard about giving to others is one of my favorite things about them having a birthday.

We were off to church.  For lunch Mr. SP picked spicy sausage pizza from Clyde Iron Works.  Some people did not eat pizza, but he, Mr. TOF, The Banana and I did.  I was thankful that half of the pizza was regular cheese, but my kidlets loved the spicy sausage.   Mr. SP and Dr. Peds played chess with the gigantic chess set.

Back at home it was rest time, and Mr. SP spent the afternoon building with Legos, getting new ideas from one of his birthday books.

Before I left for choir rehearsal we had some yummy ice cream cake.  Mr. SP was excited to get the biggest piece.

While I was gone, Dr. Peds cooked supper,  and at Mr. SP’s request there was family game night, which involved Settlers of Catan, I believe.  It was a low key birthday, but in accordance with Mr. SP’s plans.
