My Friend the Fire

It has been deliciously cold! On Sunday morning it snowed for at least two hours, pretty steadily, but the snow melted when it hit the green grass. We snuggled in the “cabin” room, as our family room has been named because of its wooden ceiling. The previous owners of our house had two large dogs, and although they were meticulously clean, the family room smells like wet dog, no matter what we do. It’s in the carpet, and we can’t get the odor out. It doesn’t smell like the dogs had accidents there or anything like that, just like wet old dog fur. This is the room we hang out in for most of the day, so if anyone has any good ideas for eliminating dog odor, please leave a comment and let me know.

Anyway, we enjoyed watching the whirling snow from our cozy little room with the fire going as we snuggled up under monstrous down blankets (I love cold weather and I love down blankets) and read children’s picture books. Today the temperature warmed up to fourty six degrees. We left the fire off, but we still did a lot of snuggling. (Don’t worry Mom, the inside temperature is at least 52!)

Dogs are wonderful, but wet dog smell is not. I quite agree with you. Have you tried spraying Frebreez (spelling?) around? It gets rid of broccali odor at my house! Or better yet, just get a dog and then blame him/her for any untoward odor. Everybody needs a dog,,,,,and I often think about having one to talk to. It would cover the fact that I talk to myself quite a lot. love you, gramma
