Bread

Breadloaf

Since we've been cooped up inside because of the flu and the drizzle, I've been making a lot of bread:  artisan bread (an awesome no knead bread), flax bread in the bread machine, and this buttermilk bread, which is just a delicious treat.  We usually eat bread that more wheat based instead of white bread, but this buttermilk bread is really comforting stuff.  And it seems to always turn out.

I love my bread machine. I know there are lots of people who never use theirs, but I couldn't get by without mine.  So often I stick the ingredients in the machine before I start to teach and voila!  Bread for supper!  The kidlets can eat almost a whole loaf, so poor Dr. Peds rarely gets any and is forced to eat the boring  stuff from the store instead.

Here's the recipe for buttermilk bread if you want to try it in your own bread machine.

3 tablespoons melted butter

1 1/8 cups buttermilk

1/2 cup water

3.5 cups white bread flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon salt

3 tablespoons yeast

It makes a large 2 pound loaf.
